We are located in the centre of East Oxford, which has its own shopping area and is conveniently located for the Nuffield, Churchill and John Radcliffe Hospitals. It is also close to Business Park, Brookes University and within easy reach of Oxford City Centre by car or bus. A coach stop to London, or airports, is within 10 minutes walking distance from the house, and the coach service to London is every 10 minutes. It takes approximately 1 hour to reach Marble Arch in London and 50 minutes to Heathrow airport. Oxford is in the Heart of England, central to both the south, London and the north, Birmingham and beyond via the M40. It is also easily reached from the West Country via the M4 and A34. Wales and the Lake District are also within a day's drive, making it a good place to include in a UK tour. If you come by plane both Heathrow and Gatwick are easily accessible by car or coach direct from the airports. A coach also runs from Stansted if your flight lands there. By car from the M40 northbound (also A40 westbound), Leave the M40 at Junction 8 (A40). At the first roundabout take the first exit and follow signposts for Oxford Business Park till you see the BMW plant on the left. Take the slip road down to the roundabout. At the roundabout take the fourth exit along Garsington Road. Continue on Garsington road and oxford road towards to cowley and city centre, Athena Guest House will be found on the right side of Cowley road, and just near Lear & Lear Estate Agents.. By car from the M40 southbound (also A40 eastbound and A44 approaches), Leave motorway at Junction 9 and take the A34 in the direction of Oxford. After leaving the A34 at the sign showing the A44 and Oxford, turn left, and at the first roundabout where the A44 joins the A40, turn left again on to the ring road. Continue around the eastern section of the ring road and follow sign posts to Oxford Business Park until you see the BMW factory on the left. Turn off here on the slip road down to the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the fourth exit along Garsington Road. Continue on Garsington road and oxford road towards to cowley and city centre, Athena Guest House will be found on the right side of Cowley road, and just near Lear & Lear Estate Agents. By car from the West Country, Bristol and South Wales (M5) get the M4 eastbound. After this you have two options:- 1. Either take the M4 all the way to the Newbury junction and head north up the A34 to the first exit indicating Oxford. Join the ring road sign posted London M40, Cowley, Kidlington and follow the road around till you get to the A40/ M40 roundabout. Take the left exit in to Headington / City Centre. Go directly across heading for City Centre and headington, bear left to London Road toward to City Centre and headington, continue on London road and headington road for 1.0 miles, Continue on St. Clement’s Street for 0.1 mile, turn left at Rectory Road for 0.2 mile, turn left at Cowley Road and go 0.5 miles, you will find our house is just the near Lear & Lear Estate Agents. 2. Take the M4 eastbound and exit at the junction for Swindon. Follow the signs to Swindon and then Oxford along the A420. This is a long winding mostly single carriage road passing Faringdon and the White Horse. You will come to the Botley interchange, take the first exit to the A34 north. Exit this at the Oxford junction past the motorway service centre and head for Oxford. You will see a petrol station on the right just before a roundabout, take the second exit and join the ring road. Follow this around two roundabouts. At the second take the fifth exit marked Headington / City Centre. Go directly across heading for City Centre and headington, bear left to London Road toward to City Centre and headington, continue on London road and headington road for 1.0 miles, Continue on St. Clement’s Street for 0.1 mile, turn left at Rectory Road for 0.2 mile, turn left at Cowley Road and go 0.5 miles, you will find our house is just the near Lear & Lear Estate Agents. From Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted airports, Frequent coach services depart from Heathrow and Gatwick airports to Oxford. They can be boarded at the coach terminals as indicated at the airport concerned. Gatwick coaches (X80) depart from the south terminal, bay 8 and the north terminal, bay 4. The coach stop is at the beginning of the row. Heathrow coach (X70) departs at the coach terminal either from terminals 1, 2and 3, bay 10 or terminal 4, bay 19. These services are run by Oxford Express , click on this link for up-to-date information. The Stansted coach runs from Oxford to Cambridge and stops at Stansted airport; they can be contacted at this link, National Express. From the railway station, There are buses that run from the railway station to Cowley. Route 5 which goes to Blackbird Leys runs every 12 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays. On Sundays it runs every 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can get a taxi from outside the train station. From the coach station, Coaches from London and from Heathrow and Gatwick airports arrive at the Gloucester Green coach station which is a few minutes walk from the city centre. Use local buses 5, 5a, 5b or 1. Boarding Point for the 5, 5a and 5b is at Queen Street. Boarding point for the number 1 is at The Golden Cross, which is on Cornmarket Street, near the junction with the High Street. |
